It might be one of the most intuitive mountain bikes we’ve ever made. You merely need to think about what you’re going to do, and the Honzo Ti makes it happen. The 29-inch wheel Honzo has sought to blend the nostalgia of our original Kona XC sloping top tube hardtail philosophy with aggressive modern trail geometry. A bike that’s slack, with geometry that helped define the long reach, low bottom bracket and short chainstay signatures of our popular Process line. In a nutshell, a frame that gives you precise steering, great standover, stability at speed and a defining nimbleness that let’s you dance through corners, bunny hop the burl, climb with speed, and descend with supreme confidence. Join with this methodology the inherent lightweight and ride performance of Titanium, and all of a sudden you have a trail master of the tallest order.
Frame Features:
Featuring a raw finish, the new 3-2.5 Titanium Honzo frame is highlighted by a stiff 12x142 rear axle, a long front center for great cockpit mobility and standover, relatively slack 68 degree head angle, a low bottom bracket, extremely short rear triangle, and a 31.6 dropper compatible seat tube with Stealth routing. The frame comes stock with the same adjustable thru-axle sliding geared dropouts as its steel cousin, but singlespeed versions are available. Because it has a yoke at the chainstay/bottom bracket bridge, there is room for wider tires. The ride features incredible front end and overall stiffness, intuitive trail performance and efficient pedaling. Light, lively and active, this is a trail gazelle.

At Kona we only use 3-2.5 Titanium, an incredibly strong and lightweight metal consisting of 3 percent aluminum, 2.5 percent vanadium, and 94.5 percent pure titanium. Excellent fatigue life, lightweight property consistency, form-ability, and corrosion resistance are but a few of the reasons we use 3-2.5. Our titanium frames, aside from the Honzo Ti which is made in Taiwan, are manufactured in Tennessee, U.S.A. by Lynskey Performance Designs, one of the top titanium fabricators in the world.

The major benefit of an internal headset, whereby the bearing cups are actually pressed into the frame and are easily removable, is the extra layer of protection it provides the bearings against the elements. An internal headset also reduces stack height, so the height of the stem and bars are more adjustable, giving the rider the best fit possible.
12x142mm, 12x148 and 12x157 rear axle standards provide two major advantages to the Kona rider: the 12mm diameter of the rear axle provides the rear hub and frame with a stiff interface, while the 142/148/157mm outer diameter of the hub allows the wheel to be quickly and properly positioned in the frame before the rear axle is inserted. New for 2016, you’ll see the 12x148 standard in the mix, featured primarily on the new alloy Honzos. 12x148 provides more tire clearance at the chainstay yoke, while the rear wheel is stiffer and more durable relative to a 12x142 thru-axle.
