The Humu originally started out as our bar bike—our two-wheeled utilitarian way about town. It was never designed to be a klunker class bike, but when mountain bikes started to get expensive, we wanted a hassle-free ride that you could lock up without worry. Introduced in 1992, the Humu was styled after some of the first mountain bikes, like the Trailmaster and the Pro-Cruiser. All of these bikes had the double top-tube frame and moto-inspired handlebars. This is your go-everywhere, every day means for knockin’ about. The Humu continues to be a big part of who we are at Kona. The latest incarnation blends retro styling and Kona’s original P2 fork with modern features, like sliding dropouts, disc brakes and 29-inch wheels. Cool as it ever was.

Classic mountain bike heritage meets Kona cruiser cool. From seawalls to city streets, our Humu makes a pedal on any surface an exercise in stylish fun.
Very few materials offer as much shock absorption, durability and supple-ride characteristics as steel. We’ve never strayed from cycling’s original material and have worked tirelessly to adapt, refine and innovate Kona Cromoly framesets as rider demands continue to evolve.

The major benefit of an internal headset, whereby the bearing cups are actually pressed into the frame and are easily removable, is the extra layer of protection it provides the bearings against the elements. An internal headset also reduces stack height, so the height of the stem and bars are more adjustable, giving the rider the best fit possible.
